New User Registration Guide

Every supported broker needs two things done once: an API app created on the broker's own developer portal, and that app's Client ID / API Key / Secret entered into AlgoBuilder. This page walks through both, broker by broker.

How registration works on AlgoBuilder

1Click Login / Register (or Get Started Free) and pick your broker from the list.
2Enter your broker Client ID (or mobile/email for Groww) — AlgoBuilder checks if you're a new or returning user.
3New users enter their API Key/Secret from the broker's developer portal, then get redirected to the broker to authorize — after that you land on your Dashboard.
You’ll likely need a static IP

Most brokers now ask for a static IP when you create your API app (or in your account/API settings) — this is a SEBI requirement for algo trading, and API orders from an unregistered IP get rejected. If you don’t already have one, buy one from staticip.in — pick IPv4 or IPv6 based on whichever your broker's app form accepts (check the broker steps below, or their API docs, if you're not sure).

Zerodha
Client ID + API Key + API Secret
1 · Get your API credentials from Kite Connect developer console
Open Kite Connect developer console
  1. 1Go to the Kite Connect developer console and log in with your Zerodha Client ID.
  2. 2Click Create new app, choose the Connect type (needed for order placement — Personal apps can’t trade), and fill in an app name and description.
  3. 3Paste the Redirect URL below into the Redirect URL field exactly as shown.
  4. 4Click Create — Kite Connect issues an API Key and API Secret for the app. Keep both handy for the next step.

Kite Connect apps of type “Connect” run on a 30-day free credit cycle, not a one-time fee — check the console's own Billing tab for your current balance before going live.
2 · Enter those details on AlgoBuilder

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Zerodha from the broker list, then enter: Client ID + API Key + API Secret. Submitting takes you to Zerodha to authorize, then straight to your Dashboard.

Angel One
Client ID + API Key (no secret needed)
1 · Get your API credentials from SmartAPI developer portal
Open SmartAPI developer portal
  1. 1Go to the SmartAPI portal and log in with your Angel One Client ID (you’ll need TOTP set up on your account — the portal has an “Enable TOTP” link if you haven’t already).
  2. 2Under MyApps, create a new app and set its Redirect URL to the value below.
  3. 3Copy the API Key SmartAPI issues — that’s the only credential AlgoBuilder needs from Angel One (unlike most other brokers, there’s no API Secret to enter here).

AlgoBuilder’s Angel One step deliberately hides the API Secret field — Angel One’s publisher-login flow only ever needs the API Key.
2 · Enter those details on AlgoBuilder

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Angel One from the broker list, then enter: Client ID + API Key (no secret needed). Submitting takes you to Angel One to authorize, then straight to your Dashboard.

Fyers
Client ID + API Key (App ID) + API Secret
1 · Get your API credentials from Fyers API dashboard
Open Fyers API dashboard
  1. 1Go to the Fyers API dashboard and log in with your Fyers Client ID.
  2. 2Create (or open) a Trading-type app and set its Redirect URL to the value below.
  3. 3Copy the App ID (used as the API Key) and Secret ID (API Secret) shown under App credentials.

Fyers only shows credentials once you toggle the eye icon next to "App credentials & info" — re-generate the Secret ID from there if you ever lose it.
2 · Enter those details on AlgoBuilder

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Fyers from the broker list, then enter: Client ID + API Key (App ID) + API Secret. Submitting takes you to Fyers to authorize, then straight to your Dashboard.

Upstox
Client ID + API Key + API Secret
1 · Get your API credentials from Upstox Developer Apps console
Open Upstox Developer Apps console
  1. 1Go to Upstox’s Developer Apps console and log in with your registered mobile number (OTP-verified).
  2. 2Create a new app and set its Redirect URI to the value below.
  3. 3Copy the API Key and API Secret issued for the app.

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Upstox from the broker list, then enter: Client ID + API Key + API Secret. Submitting takes you to Upstox to authorize, then straight to your Dashboard.

Dhan
Client ID + API Key (App ID) + API Secret
1 · Get your API credentials from DhanHQ API docs / web.dhan.co → My Profile
Open DhanHQ API docs / web.dhan.co → My Profile
  1. 1Log in to web.dhan.co and go to My Profile → Access DhanHQ APIs.
  2. 2Choose the API key based authentication method (not the "generate token directly" option — that one skips AlgoBuilder entirely) and set the Redirect URL to the value below.
  3. 3Copy the App ID (API Key) and App Secret (API Secret) Dhan issues.

Dhan also offers a "generate access token directly from Dhan Web" option for personal scripts — that’s a different flow and won’t work with AlgoBuilder’s registration form, which needs the API-key based method above.

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Dhan from the broker list, then enter: Client ID + API Key (App ID) + API Secret. Submitting takes you to Dhan to authorize, then straight to your Dashboard.

Groww
Mobile/Email (login-only) + API Key + API Secret
1 · Get your API credentials from Groww Trade API docs

  1. 1Log in to your Groww account and open the Trade API section (linked from the Trade API docs page above).
  2. 2Generate an API Key and API Secret — Groww has no separate Client ID, and no Redirect URL to configure at all.
  3. 3On AlgoBuilder, the first field asks for your mobile number or email instead of a Client ID — this is just so AlgoBuilder can recognize you on a future reconnect; it’s never sent to Groww.
Groww is the one broker here with no OAuth redirect step — after you submit your API Key/Secret, AlgoBuilder exchanges them for a session token directly and takes you straight to the Dashboard, with no extra broker login page in between.
2 · Enter those details on AlgoBuilder

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Groww from the broker list, then enter: Mobile/Email (login-only) + API Key + API Secret. Submitting takes you to Groww to authorize — no broker redirect for Groww, it connects directly, then straight to your Dashboard.

Alice Blue
Client ID + API Key (App Code) + API Secret
1 · Get your API credentials from Alice Blue ANT web login

  1. 1Log in to Alice Blue’s ANT web platform, then open its API/Developer section from your account menu.
  2. 2Create an app and set its Redirect URL to the value below (Alice Blue calls the API Key an "App Code" in places — same value).
  3. 3Copy the App Code (API Key) and API Secret issued for the app.

Alice Blue’s own login step (after AlgoBuilder redirects you) has no room to carry a state parameter — if a reconnect ever lands you on the wrong account, sign out of ANT web first and try again.

Back on AlgoBuilder's registration popup, pick Alice Blue from the broker list, then enter: Client ID + API Key (App Code) + API Secret. Submitting takes you to Alice Blue to authorize, then straight to your Dashboard.

Tradesmart
Client Code + App ID + Secret Key

  1. 1From the TradeSmart API page, click Get Started and log in with your TradeSmart Client Code.
  2. 2Create an app and set its Redirect URL to the value below.
  3. 3Copy the App ID and Secret Key TradeSmart issues — AlgoBuilder uses TradeSmart’s own terms for these fields rather than the generic "API Key/Secret" labels.
